St Joseph’s School Eugowra follows the Board of Studies Teaching and Educational Standards of NSW. We are a Catholic School and our curriculum is taught with a Christian dimension at all times. In all Key Learning Areas each child is encouraged to become actively involved in all activities that are designed for the particular stage of development.

Religious Education

St Joseph’s School provides students with the opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of basic Catholic doctrine. From this strong foundation, students will become acquainted with their own human development and be able to understand the Christian Values upon which their faith commitment to Christ and His Church depend. Opportunities are provided for shared Liturgy and when appropriate Sacramental development will be provided in close cooperation with the Parents and the Parish Priest.

English

Our English program includes listening and talking, reading and writing, incorporating skills of spelling, grammar and handwriting. Students are encouraged to develop their spoken and written English for a range of purposes.

Mathematics

Mathematics involves the development of students’ thinking, understanding, competence and confidence in the application of mathematics. The focus areas of Mathematics are:

  • Number and algebra
  • Measurement and space
  • Statistics and probability

Science, Technology, Engineering amd Mathematics (STEM)

In STEM students develop competence, confidence and responsibility in their interactions with science and technology to gain knowledge and understanding of the world.

History

History is a disciplined process of inquiry into the past that helps to explain how people, events and forces from the past have shaped our world. Students explore human actions and achievements in a range of historical contexts. They become aware that history is all around us and that historical information may be drawn from the physical remains of the past as well as written, visual and oral sources of evidence.

Geography

Geography is the study of places and the relationships between people and their environments. Students learn to question why the world is the way it is, reflect on their relationships and responsibilities for the world and propose actions designed to shape a socially and sustainable future.

Creative Arts

Creative Arts enables students to gain increasing understanding and accomplishment in the visual arts, music, drama and dance and to appreciate the meanings and values that each of the art forms offers personally, culturally and as a form of communication.

Personal Development and Physical Education (PDHPE)

PDHPE develops the knowledge, skills; understanding, values and attitudes students need to lead healthy, active and fulfilling lives.

Special Education

Our special needs learning support team promotes differentiated learning experiences for targeted students in areas of literacy and numeracy; and students with learning, language, behaviour and gifted and talented needs.
